The East Midlands West Maths Hub (EMWMH) is a collaborative network that strengthens maths education across the region by connecting schools with expert practitioners, research informed approaches, and high quality professional development. It is DfE funded and coordinated by the National Centre for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics (NCETM).
Our secondary school has partnered with EMWMH because we share the belief that “Every child a mathematician” is not just an aspiration but a collective responsibility. Through access to nationally recognised Teaching for Mastery programmes, subject specific training, and a community of maths specialists, our staff have deepened their pedagogical knowledge, strengthened curriculum design, and embedded consistent, coherent mathematical experiences for all learners.
This partnership has enabled us to develop inclusive classrooms, build teacher confidence, and create schools where every pupil, regardless of their starting point, can develop the fluency, reasoning, and problem solving skills that define a confident mathematician.
Here are five reasons why our school joined the Maths Hub.
